BETH HOUGHTON

Beth Houghton founded her children's yoga business, Bendy Berry Yoga, in 2009 - a unique and playful introduction to yoga for kids. She worked her way through several careers (film, tech. teaching, non-profit ) before deciding on her final career of teaching yoga to kids. She loves bringing calmness, stillness, and humor to both teaching and practicing yoga. Beth has been practicing yoga for 20 years. She was certified to teach children's yoga by Karma Kids Yoga, based in New York City in 2009 and received her certification to teach adult yoga in 2011 by completing 200 hours of training through Yoga Alliance and Flying Yoga Shala under Laura Camp. Over the past 14 years, Beth has taught over 2000 kids in local schools, at fundraising events, yoga studios, libraries, and recreation centers. She lives in Oakland with her two kids, her husband, Josh - her best teachers, and many pets. Perhaps too many pets. Her family and friends remind her to breathe deeply and laugh regularly - supporting, teaching and humbling her every day.

Alex (they/them) has trained with Yama Kids Yoga for years, first as a student, then as a counselor. They've been trained as an Yama Kids Yoga instructor - so all the same songs, stories, and class curriculum! Alex has been working with neurodivergent kiddos for the last two years, and in their free time, they sing, play ukulele, foster kittens, and do their very best to have a positive impact on the world.

Get ready to wiggle, breathe, and bloom! June is thrilled to join the Yama Kids Yoga community, bringing over twenty years of yoga magic to our elementary and family classes. A certified RYT-200 instructor, June has studied with world-class teachers like Janet Stone, Saraswati Clere, and Annie Carpenter, but her favorite way to "flow" is by turning the mat into a playground for the imagination.
What to Expect in Class:
-
High-Energy Fun
-
Mindful Magic
-
Family Connection
When she’s not sparking joy on the mat, you’ll find June exploring the East Bay hiking trails with her husband and three kids or harvesting fresh veggies from her garden. She can't wait to meet your family and kids!
